Embroidered- 2022
Clarity
During the pandemic, we have all seemed to see the world through a different lens. Some of us took this time to work on ourselves mentally and physically, some of us struggled with up keeping our mental health, others found things out about themselves or uncovered who or what means the world to them.
This painting explores self reflection and contemplation of the mind. Finding peace amidst chaos is a skill we need to practice. It may not be easy at first, but you will get there.
The word "Clarity" is embroidered onto the cheeks of the model ( my best friend), instead of just painting these words on, this embroidering motion allowed me to take more time and slow down as I weaved in and out of the canvas carefully. I decided to use my best friend as my model as when I tend to panic, my friends provide me with the sense of clarity and peace.

Scrolling...
Exploring the ways our society is so sucked into the act of mindless scrolling. Social media is a main aspect of most people's day to day routine. We wake up to the sound of notifications, when we have a spare moment we check out whats new on the feed, waiting in line- scroll through our FYP- its a notion of passing time we don't really have.
The amount of time we waste just mindlessly scrolling is insane to me...and I am defiantly a group player in this generations' obsession with needing to be stimulated every single second of the day.

The idea of time is relative and it really shows when we are on our phones. Time passes so fast when we are just flipping through stimuli interesting to us, whereas when we are without out precious phones, time seems to slow down.
In this case, are we not creating a time pocket where time is slipping through our fingers every time we swipe down the screen?
